Clint Mullican
Clint Mullican is the bass player in Watchhouse, the North Carolina duo formerly known as Mandolin Orange, and has been part of that group’s sound since its early years.
- He is from North Carolina and works out of the Chapel Hill and Carrboro scene, playing both upright and electric bass.
- Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz formed Mandolin Orange in 2009 and renamed the band Watchhouse in 2021; Mullican has been their bassist across that whole arc.
- The music asks for restraint more than drive — quiet arrangements where the bass is often the only thing keeping time — which is a different job from a bluegrass rhythm section.
- He plays regularly on Andrew Marlin’s solo and string-band records as well.
- He appears on the Watchhouse album Rituals (2025).
- In this catalog he appears on Watchhouse recordings.
