“Cody Road” is an original instrumental by the mandolinist Andrew Marlin, known for his work in the duo Mandolin Orange, later renamed Watchhouse. It appears on his 2018 solo album “Buried in a Cape,” a set of original tunes recorded in Nashville.
The piece sits in Marlin’s contemporary acoustic style, drawing on old-time and bluegrass roots while leaning toward a gentler, more reflective mood. On the album it is performed by a small ensemble of mandolin, fiddle, guitar, and bass.
This recording features Marlin himself on mandolin, leading the band through the tune on “Buried in a Cape.”
