Rhiannon Giddens
Rhiannon Giddens is an American musician and singer who works in old-time, folk, and roots music.
- Born in 1977 in Greensboro, North Carolina, she trained as an opera singer at the Oberlin Conservatory.
- Plays banjo and fiddle and sings.
- Was a founding member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, formed in 2005.
- Won a Grammy Award with the group for the album “Genuine Negro Jig.”
- Has built a wide-ranging solo career and received a MacArthur Fellowship and a Pulitzer Prize.
