“Carolina in the Fall” was written by the Kruger Brothers, the Swiss-born brothers Jens and Uwe Kruger, who with bassist Joel Landsberg settled in the western North Carolina mountains. They recorded it for an album released in 2002.
The song is a newcomer’s love letter to an adopted home. It praises the beauty of the North Carolina hill country, and the autumn especially, with the fresh wonder of people who chose the place and found it worth crossing an ocean for.
The song became closely tied to the Kruger Brothers and to western North Carolina.
