“Picture in a Tear” gave its name to a 1996 album by Wyatt Rice and Santa Cruz, the band led by the guitarist Wyatt Rice.
The song builds on a single heartbreak image. Looking into a fallen tear, the singer sees the face of the love he has lost — the whole of a vanished happiness caught, for a moment, in that small reflection.
