Almost Acoustic is a 1988 Grateful Dead Records live album (GDDLP 5.00036) by the Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band, recorded without overdubs at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco and the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles in November and December 1987. The band — Garcia (guitar, vocals), David Nelson (guitar, vocals), Sandy Rothman (mandolin, dobro, banjo, vocals), John Kahn (acoustic bass), Kenny Kosek (fiddle), and David Kemper (snare drum) — drew from the traditional folk, old-time, and bluegrass repertoires that Garcia had studied intensively during his early musical development in the Bay Area in the early 1960s. The album documents Garcia's return to acoustic music a full quarter-century into his career with the Grateful Dead, revealing the roots beneath the electric experimentation.
