Legendary Stanley Brothers Recorded Live

The Stanley Brothers

Album · 1969 · Rebel SLP 1487

The Legendary Stanley Brothers Recorded Live, released by Rebel Records in 1969 (SLP 1487), is the first volume of a two-LP set drawn from audience-made tapes of Stanley Brothers concerts during the brothers' working years — assembled and released three years after Carter Stanley's death as part of the posthumous wave of Stanley material that flowed through Rebel and other labels in the late 1960s. The audio fidelity is variable, taken from amateur recordings of the period, but the program captures the brothers' working stage show in a way no commercial live album of theirs ever did, with the easy banter and song-introductions of the Stanleys' touring routine intact alongside the music itself.
