Ola Belle Reed and Southern Mountain Music on the Mason-Dixon Line (Dust-to-Digital DTD-27, 2015) is a double-CD/book set combining archival field recordings with a contemporary tribute. The first disc draws on sessions recorded by folklorist Henry Glassie in ten recordings from January 1966 to June 1967, capturing Reed at her prime as a clawhammer banjoist and songwriter rooted in Ashe County, North Carolina. The second disc features Danny Paisley — son of Bob Paisley of the Southern Grass — with his own son Ryan Paisley and longtime fiddle partner T.J. Lundy, performing in the same Mason-Dixon border region Reed called home. The accompanying 256-page book contextualizes her legacy within the broader mid-Atlantic old-time scene.
