Old Time Country Music Collection (CMH 9010), a four-sided set of 24 tracks by Grandpa Jones, was released in 1979 by CMH Records, the independent Los Angeles label founded in 1975 by Martin Haerle and Arthur “Guitar Boogie” Smith. Jones was born in Niagara, Kentucky, and was a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

Jones plays banjo and guitar and sings on every track. Around him are George McCormick on rhythm guitar, Ramona Jones on fiddle and mandolin, Doyle Dykes on electric guitar, guitar and banjo, Joe Maphis on lead guitar, tenor guitar, fiddle and mandolin, Vic Willis on piano, Weldon Myrick on steel guitar and Billy Linneman on bass. Dykes, Ramona Jones, Maphis, Willis and McCormick sing backing vocals. The program includes “Young Charlotte,” “Grandfather’s Clock,” “When It’s Time for the Whippoorwill to Sing” (credited to A. Delmore) and three songs credited to L. M. Jones: “I Wonder Where My Darling Is Tonight,” “Pap’s Corn Liquor Still” and “I’m on My Way.”
