The Bluegrass Band's Once Again From the Top Vol. 2, released on Hay Holler Records (HHH 102) in 1990, is the second studio volume from Butch Robins's reconstituted Virginia ensemble. Robins plays banjo; Wyatt Rice, guitar; Arnie Solomon, mandolin; Rickie Simpkins, fiddle; Ronnie Simpkins, upright bass; Larry Stephenson, mandolin and vocals; and Ron Henderson, guitar. The ensemble was distributed primarily through direct telemarketing alongside its Vol. 1 companion (HHH 101), a common indie bluegrass distribution method of the era. Hay Holler Records, founded in Virginia in 1989, became a notable small independent for traditional and gospel bluegrass through the 1990s; Stephenson—the most prominent solo name from this lineup—subsequently led his own band on the same label.
