Superior Sounds of Bluegrass is a 1974 album released by Jim & Jesse and the Virginia Boys on Old Dominion Records (OD 498-05), the brothers' own label. Jim McReynolds (guitar, vocals) and Jesse McReynolds (mandolin, vocals) are joined by Vic Jordan (banjo), Keith McReynolds (bass, vocals), and Jim Brock (fiddle) for a program showcasing Jesse's distinctive cross-picking mandolin style alongside the brothers' characteristic two-part harmonies. Recorded at Superior Sound Studios in Hendersonville, Tennessee, the album represents the Virginia Boys at a stable mid-career moment following their long Capitol Records run.
