Darol Anger

Darol Anger is a San Francisco-born fiddler whose 1977 seat in the David Grisman Quintet, co-founding role in the Turtle Island String Quartet, and decades teaching at Berklee make him one of the most influential string-band educators of the new acoustic era — an IBMA Distinguished Achievement Award honoree.

- Founding member of the David Grisman Quintet, joining in 1977 at age 21 and appearing on the 1977 debut album.
- Co-founded Turtle Island String Quartet with David Balakrishnan in 1985.
- Founded Republic of Strings with Scott Nygaard.
- Member of Mr Sun, Psychograss, Montreux, Fiddlers 4, and the Anger–Marshall Duo.
- Professor Emeritus at Berklee College of Music (taught 2007–2018).
- Received the 2020 IBMA Distinguished Achievement Award.
- Heard on NPR's Car Talk theme alongside Earl Scruggs, David Grisman, and Tony Rice.
