Courtney Hartman is a Colorado-bred guitarist and singer-songwriter whose seven years with Della Mae (joined 2011), Grammy-nominated work on "This World Oft Can Be," and Camino-de-Santiago-inspired solo debut "Ready Reckoner" have made her one of the most distinctive flatpickers in contemporary acoustic music.
- Grew up in Colorado, one of ten siblings; began violin at age 3, guitar at 11, songwriting at 12.
- Attended Berklee College of Music's American Roots Music program in Boston.
- Joined Della Mae in 2011 (originally as a session player on "I Built This Heart") and stayed about seven years.
- Received a Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album in 2014 with Della Mae ("This World Oft Can Be").
- Nominated by the Americana Music Association for Instrumentalist of the Year in 2017.
- Solo debut album "Ready Reckoner" written during a 500-mile Camino de Santiago pilgrimage; features collaborators Bill Frisell, Anais Mitchell, Shahzad Ismaily, and Sam Amidon.
- Sought-after flatpicking guitar instructor; D'Addario and Bourgeois Guitars endorsing artist.
- Has also collaborated with Silkroad Ensemble.
