Del McCoury Band Recordings

From Bill Monroe alumnus to bluegrass elder statesman

20 songs

Del McCoury played guitar and sang lead in Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys briefly in the 1960s before going home and quietly building his own band. Decades later — with his sons Ronnie and Rob in the band — he became one of the most-loved figures in bluegrass, winning IBMA Entertainer of the Year multiple times. The Del McCoury Band’s tight vocal sound and Del’s undimmed tenor anchor the modern traditional camp. Twenty recordings on this site canonically by the band.

Each song’s page on Picker’s Guide has chord charts, lyrics, recordings, and song history.
