Bluegrass Collection, released in 1978, gathered some of the finest moments from the Osborne Brothers' catalog, distilling the output of one of the most innovative and commercially successful acts in bluegrass history. Bobby and Sonny Osborne had been pushing the boundaries of the genre since the 1950s, introducing amplification, twin banjos, and sophisticated vocal arrangements that put them at odds with purists but earned them a devoted mainstream country audience. The brothers from Hyden, Kentucky had been regulars on the Grand Ole Opry since 1964 and had charted significant country hits alongside their bluegrass work. The collection provides a useful survey of their range and their lasting contributions to the art of tight brother harmony.
