"Bluegrass Favorites," originally released circa 1962–1963 on Capitol Records (T-1800) and later reissued by Rural Rhythm (RRET-188), is Mac Wiseman's lone Capitol album, recorded during a brief stint with the label between his longer periods at Dot and RCA. Wiseman — known as "The Voice With A Heart" for his remarkably clear, warm tenor — is backed by a Nashville session ensemble including Benny Williams (mandolin), Ray Edenton (rhythm guitar), Buddy Spicher (fiddle), and Joe Zinkan (bass), produced by Ken Nelson. The album bridges traditional bluegrass material with the smoother Nashville Sound sensibility of the early 1960s, reflecting Wiseman's always commercially-minded approach to the genre. Rural Rhythm's Heritage Collection reissue rescued the album from out-of-print status for a new generation of listeners.
