Frost Bite, released in 2009 by banjo player Dan Menzone, is Menzone's second solo album, produced by Wyatt Rice. The Connecticut-based picker pulls together a hard-traditional supporting cast — Wyatt Rice on guitar, Adam Steffey on mandolin and vocals, Rickie Simpkins on fiddle, Ron Rice on bass, Rob Ickes on Dobro, with Richard Bennett and Don Rigsby singing — for a set of banjo-led instrumentals and vocals. The record's curiosity is two computer-composed tunes by Lee Marcus, "Gone Beserk" and "Frostbite," realized for acoustic band. "Gone Beserk" later took first place in the International Songwriting Competition. Menzone made the album after his nineteen-year run with Connecticut's Traver Hollow (1983–2002), as a statement of independent identity outside that long band tenure.
