The Bottom Line Archive Series

Doc Watson

Album · 2015

The Bottom Line Archive Series is a two-CD set of Doc Watson in concert at the Bottom Line, the club at 15 West 4th Street in Greenwich Village that ran from 1974 to 2004. The club’s own company, Bottom Line Theater Cabaret, released it on 30 October 2015 as BLRCD015, one of several titles drawn from its tape archive that day. The concerts date from 2002, when Watson was in his late seventies and still touring with Jack Lawrence and his grandson Richard Watson, the son of Merle.

The forty-three tracks range widely. Some are “Shady Grove,” “Little Sadie,” “In the Pines,” “T for Texas,” “Trouble in Mind,” “St. James Infirmary Blues,” “Corrina, Corrina” and “Eight More Miles to Louisville”. The set also has two versions of “Black Mountain Rag”, as well as “Summertime” and “Nights in White Satin.” One track, “Doc Tells Stories,” is spoken. The Store For Music reissued the set in 2019.
