The Storm Still Rages was released by Rounder Records on June 5, 2001, the follow-up to Rhonda Vincent’s Back Home Again. She produced it, with Ronny Light recording it at Lighthouse Sound Studio in Nashville, and Craig Havighurst wrote the liner notes. Bryan Sutton plays guitar on every track and Darrin Vincent bass. Tom Adams plays banjo on most of them, and the fiddlers are Stuart Duncan, Michael Cleveland and Aubrey Haynie; Rob Ickes plays resonator guitar on three tracks, and Audie Blaylock plays rhythm guitar on three.
Vincent wrote the opening song, “Cry of the Whippoorwill,” after having trouble finding a strong lead-off number. Alison Krauss sings harmony on “When the Angels Sing,” Ben and Sonya Isaacs on “I’m Not Over You,” and Ray Deaton sings the bass part on “You Don’t Love God If You Don’t Love Your Neighbor.” The album ends with the minute-long “The Martha White Theme.”
The International Bluegrass Music Association named Vincent its Female Vocalist of the Year in 2001, as it had in 2000, and named Rhonda Vincent & the Rage its Entertainer of the Year.
