Alex Hargreaves is an Oregon-born fiddler whose youngest-ever Grand National Champion title at the National Oldtime Fiddlers' Contest, long Sarah Jarosz tenure, Big Trio with Paul Kowert and Mike Marshall, and current touring seat with Billy Strings have made him one of the busiest young string players bridging bluegrass and modern improvisation.

  • Native of Corvallis, Oregon; was the youngest-ever Grand National Champion fiddler at the National Oldtime Fiddlers' Contest.
  • Toured with Sarah Jarosz 2007–2014, appearing on "Song Up In Her Head," "Follow Me Down," and "Build Me Up From Bones."
  • At age 17, co-founded The Big Trio with bassist Paul Kowert and mandolinist Mike Marshall (self-titled album, 2009).
  • Released debut album "Prelude" in 2010.
  • Member of the Grammy-winning Turtle Island Quartet 2016–2019, appearing on "Bird's Eye View" (2018).
  • Currently tours full-time with Grammy-winning guitarist/singer Billy Strings.
  • On faculty at The New School (jazz program) in New York.
  • Has performed and collaborated with Jerry Douglas, David Grisman, Béla Fleck, Danilo Pérez, Sierra Hull, Steve Martin, and Kacey Musgraves.
