Jim Nunally is a San Francisco Bay Area-based guitarist and singer whose long-running work with the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience, John Reischman & the Jaybirds, and the Nell Robinson–Jim Nunally Band has made him one of the preeminent flatpickers of the West Coast scene — a Grammy- and IBMA-credited contributor to the 1996 Bluegrass Album of the Year.
- San Francisco Bay Area native; third-generation traditional musician — his Arkansas-born grandfather taught his father, who taught him.
- Long-running guitarist with the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience (DGBX album, Acoustic Disc, 2006) and with John Reischman & the Jaybirds ("Vintage & Unique," 2011, plus extensive touring).
- Two-time Grammy-credited and two-time IBMA-award-winning performer for his work on the 1996 Bluegrass Album of the Year, "True Life Blues: The Songs of Bill Monroe" (Sugar Hill, produced by Todd Phillips).
- Two-time Western Open Flatpicking and Master Picking Champion.
- Long-running duo with Bay Area songwriter Nell Robinson — "House & Garden" (2013) and "Baby Let's Take the Long Way Home" (2017) — and a current member of the Nell Robinson–Jim Nunally Band.
- Recorded the guitar tracks for Snoopy in the 1991 Peanuts television special "Snoopy's Reunion" and played guitar on the theme song of the 1993 "Beverly Hillbillies" movie.
- Recorded with David Grisman and Sam Bush on "Hold On, We're Strummin'" (Acoustic Disc, 2003), nominated for two IBMA awards.
- Active sideman, producer, and teacher in the Bay Area roots-music scene; credits include records by Kathy Kallick, Darol Anger, Alice Gerrard, the Stairwell Sisters, and Trisha Gagnon.
