John McGann
John McGann was an American guitarist and mandolinist, an accomplished acoustic musician and a longtime professor at the Berklee College of Music.
- Born in 1959 and raised in Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey.
- Graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 1981 and returned as a professor in its string department.
- Won the national mandolin championship at the Walnut Valley Festival in 1986.
- Was a member of the jazz-and-bluegrass group the Wayfaring Strangers.
- Was known for his transcription and arranging work for fretted instruments.
- Died in 2012.
