Carry Me Across the Mountain

Dan Tyminski

Album · 2000 · Doobie Shea DS-CS 2002

Carry Me Across the Mountain, Dan Tyminski's 2000 solo debut on Rounder Records, showcases the Union Station guitarist and vocalist in his own right. Tyminski, who had joined Alison Krauss and Union Station in 1994, was developing into one of the finest singers in contemporary bluegrass. The title track alongside 'Sunny Side of the Mountain' and 'Tiny Broken Heart' demonstrate the emotional directness and technical control that made his voice so valuable in ensemble settings. The album arrived just before his voice became nationally familiar through the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack.
