Forty Years of Trouble

Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass

Album · 2001 · Strictly Country SCR 51

Forty Years of Trouble (Strictly Country Records SCR 51) is a studio album from Bob Paisley and the Southern Grass, the Virginia and Maryland bluegrass ensemble that Bob Paisley led as guitarist and vocalist through multiple configurations following his partnership with Ted Lundy. Paisley plays guitar and sings lead; Danny Paisley plays guitar and sings; Bobby Lundy plays mandolin; Hendrik Ahrend plays banjo; and Jon Glik holds the bass. Strictly Country Records, the Dutch independent label, documented the Southern Grass's traditional bluegrass approach for European audiences following the American regional festival scene. The album presents the ensemble's close family vocal harmony and straightforward traditional approach in a program drawn from the bluegrass and old-time repertoire that sustained their long career.
