Flatt and Scruggs at Carnegie Hall! The Complete Concert documents the first bluegrass concert ever performed at New York's Carnegie Hall — December 8, 1962, at the height of the folk revival's interest in southern traditional music. The original Columbia LP of 1963 (CL 2045) had presented only a portion of the concert; Koch Records' 1998 reissue (KOC-CD-7929) made all thirty-two tracks available for the first time. The performance catches Flatt and Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys at peak working form — Paul Warren's fiddle, Josh Graves's dobro, the duo's tight harmony — bringing bluegrass into the most prestigious concert venue in America. The Carnegie Hall gig was both validation and turning point for the music.
