Kings of Bluegrass, Vol. 2: Early '50s Radio Broadcasts, released in 1975 on the Kings of Bluegrass imprint (LPS 651), gathers seventeen Flatt and Scruggs radio performances from the early Foggy Mountain Boys years, when the band was on Mercury and the lineup centered on Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, Curly Seckler on mandolin, and Paul Warren on fiddle. The program ranges from instrumental showpieces like Leather Britches and Earl's Breakdown to lead numbers like Will You Be Loving Another Man? and Salty Dog Blues, all captured in the immediate, slightly raw fidelity of the broadcast tape. The collection caught a working band at the moment its sound was first being established for a national audience.
