Live at Club 47 captures Doc Watson on Sunday 10 February 1963, at the folk club at 47 Mount Auburn Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a few months after the Friends of Old Time Music concerts that introduced him to northern audiences. The tape sat in the Southern Folklife Collection at the University of North Carolina until Yep Roc issued it in 2018 (YEP-2499), twenty-six performances long. Watson moves between guitar, banjo, harmonica and autoharp across the set, singing ballads, blues, breakdowns and comic songs in the same sitting; Ralph Rinzler joins on mandolin and harmony, and John Herald of the Greenbriar Boys on second guitar and harmony. It is among the earliest full-length documents of Watson performing alone in front of a revival audience.
