Katie Petersen
Katie Petersen is the eldest sibling and musical leader of The Petersens family bluegrass band — a College of the Ozarks chemistry grad and Top-48 American Idol Season 14 contestant whose fiddle and lead vocals anchor the Branson-based group's daily shows.
- Born 1990; eldest of the four Petersen siblings (Katie, Ellen, Matt, Julianne).
- Chose violin at age 9 with classical lessons; later sent to fiddle boot camp when father formed the band.
- Identified by the band as "Musical Leader, Fiddle Player, Songwriter."
- Graduated from College of the Ozarks in 2014 with a B.A. in Chemistry and Spanish.
- Studied C.S. Lewis and the Psalms via Summit Ministries Oxford program (Oxford, England).
- Taught music and English in Nicaragua through Project Hope.
- Released debut solo project "I Wrote You A Song" in 2023.
