Dueling Banjos: From the Original Soundtrack of Deliverance and Additional Music was Warner Bros.’ 1973 album built around the runaway hit single from the film. Only two tracks come from the Deliverance sessions, “Dueling Banjos” and “End of a Dream,” both arranged by Eric Weissberg and played by Weissberg on banjo and Steve Mandell on guitar. The remaining sixteen tracks were licensed from Weissberg and Marshall Brickman’s 1963 Elektra album New Dimensions in Banjo and Bluegrass, a set of tunes such as “Shuckin’ the Corn,” “Reuben’s Train,” “Old Joe Clark” and “Eighth of January.” Carried by the single, the album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and went gold; it was later the subject of Arthur Smith’s successful lawsuit over the uncredited “Feudin’ Banjos.”
