The Jim and Jesse Story is a Jim and Jesse McReynolds double album released on CMH CMH-9022, a career retrospective featuring Jesse McReynolds on mandolin, Jim McReynolds on guitar and lead vocals, Carl Jackson on banjo, and Keith McReynolds on bass. CMH Records, the California independent that documented a wide range of bluegrass and country artists in the 1970s, provided Jim and Jesse a generous format for surveying their catalogue from the Virginia Trio days through their long tenure on Capitol. Carl Jackson, a gifted young banjoist who would go on to a distinguished production career, contributes technically accomplished banjo work throughout. The collection documents two of bluegrass's most polished performers across the full arc of their recording history.
