Vintage Bluegrass Power Picks: 30 Traditional Classics (Rural Rhythm RRTM 243) is a compilation from the Rural Rhythm Records catalog presenting performances by Earl Taylor and Jim McCall drawn from the label's archive of Kentucky-rooted traditional bluegrass recordings. Taylor plays mandolin and sings; McCall sings. Rural Rhythm's vintage catalog included some of the most direct and unmediated traditional bluegrass recorded during the style's formative period, and this compilation draws from that archive to present a sustained program of traditional material in the unvarnished performance style both performers brought to their Rural Rhythm sessions.
