Emmett Franz
Emmett Franz is an Arkansas-born dobroist who came up in his family's bluegrass-gospel group The Franz Family before joining The Petersens in 2017 — widely regarded as one of the most accomplished young dobro players on the contemporary scene.
- Plays dobro (Scheerhorn and Byrl resonator guitars) with The Petersens; previously played harmonica.
- Began on dobro at age 14 and is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished young dobro players in the country.
- Grew up in The Franz Family bluegrass-gospel group, touring with them from 1991 to 2011 (about 20 years).
- Son of Randy Franz and the late Ruth Ann Franz (d. 2016); siblings include Caleb, Audra, Olivia, and Hadley.
- First contacted The Petersens via Facebook in January 2017 and joined the band shortly after, becoming a full-time member.
- Released a solo EP, "Wanderers and Whims" (2015), and has collaborated with Chelsea Moon.
- Plays competitive volleyball outside of music.
